This is Where it Ends by Cindy K. Sproles

Cindy Sproles shares a story that is set on Shoal Mountain in Kentucky in 1902. It is the story of a life. Minerva Jane Jenkins, at 94 years old, is about to embark on an emotional journey unlike anything she has ever experienced before. This journey in her estimation might prove to be the end of her. Thirty years earlier her husband, Stately Jenkins, was adamant that she keep a secret as he was dying. She honored that secret and buried a box, that he told her, contained gold. He insisted that it was never to be opened or shared with anyone. All was moving along as she planned until a reporter showed up with questions about a possible connection to Stately and a gold theft from the time when they first married and left Lexington. She quickly realized that things would never be the same again.

This story was a very reflective/introspective story. The entire story was told from the thoughts and perspective of Minerva. I love that we got to live in her head throughout the novel. She was a spunky woman who really knew her own mind and often spoke it aloud. As she was confronted with truths that she had denied her whole life, we see that inner conflict wear on her. I loved the internal prayers she lifted as she talked all her troubles over with the Lord. Prayer for Minerva felt very natural. She had a beautiful relationship with Christ. She was a woman of deep faith but also a woman who had been hurt deeply by life and the people around her. Her story showed us that suffering is part of life but there is a Father who can walk through both good and bad with us. Her example of faith was very inspiring.

For my ladies who want more than a kissing book this is it. I loved this insightful faith journey. I also felt that Sproles really captured the essence of this 94 year old woman and her coming to terms with the end of a life lived in Christ. It was a fantastic story. I look forward to finding more books by Cindy Sproles to enjoy in my future.

I really enjoyed being part of this blog tour team for Revell Publishing. I was sent a copy of the book for free. I was not asked to give a positive review but only to give my honest opinion.
