Summer months have flown by so quickly! So many of my family and friend home educators are getting back to purchasing their curriculum for their children as they begin a new school year. At one time I was that mom but now my babies are all having babies. I do love that another generation in our family is choosing the same path we did with home education. As I chose this book for review I considered how wildly appropriate it would be for those family members and friends. I was spot on with my estimation!

This book is an interactive workbook format entitled The Holy Land Workbook by Dr. John A. Beck. It is published by Baker Books and is available wherever you buy your books and curriculum.

Dr. Beck is a prolific author who provides some amazing resources and tools for those who want to learn more about the land where God chose to write the story of His people. The Holy Land Workbook is a fantastic resource for any education setting including home school, private school, church education, or just to study on your own at home.

Beck’s goal is to encourage God’s people to know more about God’s geography. When we learn more about the geography and people of the areas of the Bible we are better able to see the Bible come to life in our minds as we study His Word.

Beck gives us well researched information about the different regions of Israel. He has been an educator for many tours over the years and has traveled the land he teaches about extensively. I thoroughly enjoyed the photos and maps as well as the descriptions and information about each city, town, and region. True to the word “workbook” this book gives ample opportunity to label and mark your own maps as you work through the chapters. There are questions, study guide pages, and quizzes to check your knowledge along the way.

If I were home schooling my children again this would be at the top of my list for our curriculum. I cannot recommend it enough. It is a fantastic resource for your family, school, Sunday school classroom or for you personally. Add it to your order for this school year and let a deeper discovery of the Holy Land begin in your home!
