I could not wait for this book to arrive. I have read the other two in this series and, as with those, this one kept me on the edge of my seat! I could not put it down. Each book in the series shows some aspect of walking by faith in Christ. This one is full of the theme of forgiveness… forgiveness of others and forgiveness of self.My favorite character in this installment is Dr. Tracie Hunter. I love that Woodhouse makes her characters flawed and realistic. Tracie wrestles with control and addiction. I love how she and Mac both cry out to God in their hardest battles as they lose control, fall, and struggle to stand again. Woodhouse shows us a strong God in the face of some very trying moments.
I am a huge procedural detective and mystery novel/show fan. I have often had to look outside the Christian fiction world for stories like this. I am delighted when a Christian author branches outside the realm of “kissing books.” LOL This is no kissing book! Well, there is a little romance but it certainly does not consume the story. It is hard hitting and powerful. We see a very deep and evil side of what can come from untreated serious mental illness, without Christ, in the character called Griz. He is a very extreme case of what drugs, alcohol and power seeking can do to a man that is unstable in all his ways. We see people suffer and die under his reign of cyber terrorism.
The beauty of these stories is that we see Christians fighting and trusting God as they battle this evil. This is truly a good versus evil kind of series. If you are looking for more of a fast paced crime adventure this series is definitely one that will keep those pages turning for you.
