All this talk of pie has me in the kitchen exploring a different kind of smoothie recently. What if you could get the taste of pumpkin pie in your healthy breakfast beverage? Here is what I came up with.

Load your blender with…

2-3 frozen peeled bananas
1/4 to 1/3 cup pumpkin puree (the more you add the more orange the smoothie)
1 tsp Pumpkin Pie Spice
1 Tbsp maple syrup or honey
2 cups of your favorite milk…. dairy, nut, or grain
1/4 cup plain yogurt (dairy or coconut)
a handful of ice cubes

Add your milk last…

Blend thoroughly, pour into glasses (2-3 servings) and enjoy.
One for now and one for later for my boy… an after school treat!
